Support Tamarackers in the Intercamp Classic!

Tamarack Community,

On Sunday, May 6^th, 2012, several Tamarack campers, staff, and alumni will be competing in the 3^rd Annual Intercamp Classic. The event will be taking place at the Powerade Centre (7575 Kennedy Road South, Brampton), located just west of Toronto. Buses will be provided and will be doing pick-ups and drop-offs at Thornhill & Forest Hill depots. Details of the bus schedule will be posted on the official event website www.intercampclassic.com closer to the date.

At this year’s Intercamp Classic, males representing camps across Ontario will play in a softball tournament or flag football tournament while females will play in a hand ball tournament once again. The event is particularly special to us as it is being chaired by Tamarack’s own Josh & Jennie Howard and there are several other Tamarackers on the committee.

650 high school students, university students, and young professionals will be participating in this year’s event and it is projected that more than 1,200 people will be in attendance. The participating teams will represent camps including: Tamarack, Manitou, Timberlane, White Pine, URJ George, Winnebagoe, Wahanowin, Walden, Ramah, Northland, Glen Bernard, New Moon & Young Judea (Shalom, Solelim, Biluim, and Kadimah).

Off the field, the competitors are uniting to help children enjoy the cherished camp experience. All proceeds from the Intercamp Classic will go towards ‘Kids in Camp’ charity, which helps subsidize families in need giving underprivileged children the ability to attend camp in Ontario. As we know, the physical, emotional, and social skills learned at camp will be truly invaluable. For more information about Kids in Camp see www.kidsincamp.com.

In addition to featuring a high level of competition among the players, the Intercamp Classic will include great food, music, inflatables, a raffle, silent auction, and other entertainment! This year, the organizers and participants have the goal to collectively raise $100,000 and together we can make it possible! Family Weekend Is Back Aug 17th-19th: Sign Up Today!

Family Weekend is back! It’s the weekend of the year when everyone gets to be a camper!

When: August 17th-August 19th, 2012
Where: Camp Tamarack
Why: The best two days you’ll spend with your family and friends.
What: Ropes, canoeing, climbing, sailing, tennis, swimming, baseball, skiing, tubing,
arts, fishing, campfires and more!!!

Lakehawks/Landhawks – Registration Open!

Tamarack, Zodiac, and Snowhawks Raven Ski & Snowboard School are once again proud to present two incredible pre-summer programs:

General

• Open to anyone from grades 1-11!
• The opportunity to get up north on Saturdays and/or Sundays before the summer begins!
  • Saturdays – May 26^th, June 2^nd, June 9^th, June 16^th
  • Sundays – May 27^th, June 3^rd, June 10^th, June 17^th
• Come for 3, 4 or more days – Mix and match days or even stay for the whole weekend – Whatever works best for you!
• Hosted at Camp Tamarack in Muskoka – only 1 ¾ Hours Away!
• We will be providing convenient coach bus pick-up/drop-off depots
• All food/snacks/drinks are included!

Lakehawks

• Your chance to specialize in water-skiing and/or wakeboarding on a calm, private lake!
• A comfortable environment to develop skills and have fun for those of all levels (i.e. beginner, intermediate, advanced)
• All equipment (i.e. water-skis, wakeboards, wetsuits) will be provided – participants are welcome to bring their own, but no need to rent or buy!
• Qualified, caring and committed expert instructors, all of whom have taught water-skiing/wakeboarding at camps before
• Lakehawks will also enjoy a taste of other water activities, sports, and adventure programs

Landhawks

• A program for those who enjoy sports & adventure programs, and want to enhance skills in these areas
• All equipment is provided; however, participants are welcome to bring their own stuff from home!
• Qualified, committed, caring & experienced coaching/ teaching staff members
• The opportunity to enjoy state-of-the-art facilities, including an Olympic-sized ball/roller hockey rink, baseball diamond – including a warning track and fence, 300-yard golf driving range, archery range, 40’ climbing tower, zip-line…and more!
• Landhawks will also enjoy a taste of some of our water-front programs

Lakehawks and Landhawks will even get to participate in certain activities together. These new programs are the perfect opportunity to enjoy the activities you love, develop skills, get up to camp before the summer, or try camp if you haven’t been before! You can have fun with old friends, meet news ones, and will leave with incredible lasting memories.

Intercamp Classic Returning On Sunday, May 6th, 2012!

The Intercamp Classic is back again on Sunday, May 6th, 2012! This incredible event involves over 70 Tamarack campers, staff & alumni and includes over 500 participants from camps across Ontario. Facebook ‘Like’ Contest Winners!

Congrats to Ryan Prussky (Top Camper), Hayden Cantor (Top Staff), and Matt Gerlock (Top Alumnus) – the winners of our first ever Tamarack Facebook ‘Like’ Contest! After an exciting 4 days of commenting and liking, these 3 gents came out on top. Hayden finished as the overall winner with 182 likes, Ryan got 57, and Matt received 15.

The Tamarack Facebook ‘Like’ Contest!

We’re excited to introduce the first ever “Tamarack Facebook Like Contest” where with a few clicks campers, parents, staff and alumni have the chance to win incredible prizes! The contest will run from 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9th, 2012 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13th, 2012! How it will work:

Part 1:

At the beginning of the contest time frame, we will post a message on the wall of the Camp Tamarack Facebook Fan Page, which will officially launch the contest. The link to our fan page is http://www.facebook.com/pages/Camp-Tamarack/124936414231333.
Make sure to “like” the page if you haven’t already.

Then, under our contest message, simply write a comment about what YOU love most about Camp Tamarack! What you write as your comment probably depends on your connection to Tamarack and how old you are (i.e. I love my cabin, I love Visitor’s Day, I love the food, I love the memories)

Part 2:

Get as many facebook friends as possible to “like” your comment! Go after family members, camp friends, school friends, friends of the family…ANYBODY to like your comment. Simply send them the link to the Tamarack Fan Page, get them to scroll down, find your comment, and “like” it!

Part 3:

Make sure that the friends who “like” your comment also “like” the Camp Tamarack Fan Page. If they already “like” the Tamarack page – that’s great. However, if they don’t, they MUST ALSO LIKE THE TAMARACK PAGE.

NOTE: Only people who “like” BOTH your comment and the Tamarack Page will count towards your total.

TOP CAMPER
To qualify in this category, you must be currently registered for a session at camp during Summer 2012. The camper who’s comment gets the most total “likes” will win a Tamarack CLOTHING PRIZE PACK (including a Hoodie, Hat, Toque, and T-Shirt) + PIZZA OR MCDONALDS FOR YOUR WHOLE CABIN at some point during the summer!!!

TOP PARENT
To qualify in this category, you must have a minimum of one child registered for a session at Tamarack during Summer 2012. The parent whose comment gets the most total “likes” will win a $100 GIFT CERTIFICATE TOWARDS CAMP, which will be issued as a $100 credit towards Summer 2012!

TOP STAFF
To qualify in this category, you must have applied for and been offered a job to work on staff during Summer 2012. The staff with the most “likes” will receive a $100 BONUS ON HIS/HER SALARY for Summer 2012!

TOP ALUMNUS
To qualify in this category, you must have attended Tamarack for at least one year as a camper or staff member and not be returning in Summer 2012. The alumnus with the most “likes” will receive the choice of $100 CASH, $100 IN CAMP CLOTHING, OR A $100 CREDIT, which can be applied towards our next alumni event or family weekend.
